The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health (OASH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), engaged MITRE, the operator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Alliance to Modernize Healthcare (the Health FFRDC), to objectively evaluate replication of pregnancy prevention programs that have been proven effective through rigorous evaluation. Federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs) are unique organizations that assist the U.S. government with scientific research and analysis; development and acquisition; and systems engineering and integration. MITRE is a not-for-profit company that manages seven FFRDCs, including the Health FFRDC. Under this project, the Health FFRDC is conducting objective, evidence-based research. MITRE is evaluating replication of pregnancy prevention programs that have been proven effective through rigorous evaluation. MITRE will share the evaluation results with OASH for its consideration.
